Mother’s Day 2015 in London

British Mother’s Day is this Sunday, 15th March.

Although you may celebrate the holiday on a different date in your home city, if you’re visiting London with your mum, our boutique hostel Palmers Lodge recommends taking her to the following places:

Start the day on the right foot by taking mum to a delicious brunch at Granger & Co in Clerkenwell. The restaurant is bright and breezy, with large windows overlooking a delightful square and small garden.

We suggest ordering the sweetcorn fritters with roast tomato, spinach and bacon. Mmm…delicious.

Next, why not take a leisurely stroll to the Southbank Centre’s “Classic Car Boot” sale? Let mum pick out a gift she’ll truly enjoy. With around 100 traders selling their retro wares, clothes and furniture, she’ll surely find something she loves.

And right next to the “Classic Car Boot” sale is the British Film Institute, better known as the BFI. This theatre plays classic, foreign and unique films that you wouldn’t find at more commercial theatres. On Mothering Sunday, some of the films playing include:

  • The Lion in Winter
  • The Tales of Hoffman
  • Jester and the Queen
  • and Whiplash

It’s about time for a tea break, isn’t it? Take mum to BB Bakery. In the hustle and bustle of Covent Garden, you’ll find this lovely bakery tucked away. Enjoy a sugar pick me up with a cupcake. Or for something quintessentially English, have a scone with clotted cream and strawberry preserve.

And now to burn off those calories. Head over to Seven Dials, one of London’s beloved shopping districts. With tons of stores, including several boutiques, an entire afternoon can rush by without you or mum noticing.

To end the day, take mum out for an extra special dinner at Sushi Samba in East London. With stunning views of London and featuring tasty food and a rooftop tree bar, there’s no way mum wouldn’t be happy with her Mother’s Day in London.

After such a long outing in London, head back to our luxury boutique hostel Palmers Lodge, where you can relax in your “home away from home.”
