Sunset Sons in London
On the 25th of August Palmers Lodge Swiss Cottage is hosting it’s first major live music gig Sunset Sons in London sponsored by Hostelworld, we’ve had plenty of beardy guitar players playing in the bar in the past but now we have professional beardy guitar players playing and we couldn’t be more excited. The event is free to our guests and will be kicking off from 9pm, at Palmers Lodge Swiss Cottage London.
Sunset Sons who are they you ask?
Firstly shame on you for not knowing this fantastic band. Formed in 2013, starting as all good things do in a bar in Hossegor, France. The band is made up of 4 beards coming from Australia and the UK. The members are;
- Rory Williams (Lead Vocals, Keys)
- Jed Laidlaw (Drums)
- Robin Windram (Guitar, Backing Vocals)
- Pete Harper (Bass)
They then proceeded to travel and play at multiple festivals and surf towns. After starting as a cover band with an a diverse range of covers such as Queens of the Stone Age and Kanye West, they proceeded to start writing their own material.
Their first song Le Surfing was self released on February 20, 2014, and climbed to #6 in the iTunes Rock Chart. Catching the attention of the record industry.
In January 2015, the band were nominated for the BBC Sound of 2015, MTV Brand New 2015 , named #1 XFM’s Great X-Pectations for 2015. In August 2016 the band was nominated for Best Live Act at the 2016 AIM (Association of Independent Music) Awards. With possibly the biggest accolade yet being that their songs Remember and Medicine were included in Guitar Hero Live.
Their first album “Very Rarely Say Die” was released on the 1st of April 2016 and having great success on iTunes. Follow them via their website.
