Our Guide to Promming

What is Promming?

The Proms, also known as The BBC Proms (or The Henry Wood Promenade Concerts presented by the BBC) is an Eight-Week Summer Event with daily classical music concerts and that takes place every year.

There are over 1400 standing places for each BBC Proms concert at the Royal Albert Hall. The price is usually £5.00 for each performance. You can stand in two areas: the Arena, directly in front of the orchestra – usually considered like the best position in the hall – and the Gallery.

Even if it’s advisable to book in advance, Promming Places are available at the door for only £5.00 each (you must buy your ticket in person and pay by cash) the same goes for sold-out concerts because these tickets are not bookable in advance. Make sure you arrive early as some queuing could expected for the most popular concerts.

It’s tricky to get Arena Tickets, but if you can always try as a limited number of Arena tickets are sold two and a half hour before each concert, on the west side of the South Steps.

The remaining tickets will be sold from 45 minutes before the performance at door 11, for the Arena and door 10 for the Gallery

How to Book?

The best way to get tickets is to book them in person at the Royal Albert Hall Box Office. The Box Office is located at door 12 and is open daily from 9.00am until 9.00pm.
Address:
Royal Albert Hall,  Kensington Gore, London SW7 2AP

You can also tickets book online: www.royalalberthall.com or by calling the Royal Albert Hall Box Office directly on 0845 401 5040, which is open daily from 9.00am until 9.00pm. If you call from outside the UK, call the number +44 20 7589 8212. Be careful: calls cost up to 5p/min from most landlines and calls from mobiles may cost considerably more.

Booking tickets by post, for this, you have to write to BBC Proms, Box office, Royal Albert Hall, London SW7 2AP, providing the following details:

• your name, address, telephone number(s) and email address (if applicable)
• the concerts you wish to attend
• number of tickets required
• preferred seating section, preferably with alternatives
• applicable discounts
• a cheque, payable to ‘Royal Albert Hall’ and made out for the maximum amount (including booking fees); or your credit card details, including type of card, name on the card, card number, issue number (Maestro only), start date, expiry date and security code (last three digits on back of Visa/Mastercard or last four digits on front of American Express)

There are other ways to book, but they all incur on a booking fee of 2% of the total value plus £1.00 per ticket up to a maximum of £10.00 per booking.
