Leaving bags there before and after was also not a big deal. Staff was also friendly. Room was just a bit to warm and they forgot to give us a second breakfast card which caused us some inconvenience the second day. But all together we would definitely recommend this hostel and stay here again. read less

I had an... read morehad never stayed in a 21 female capacity dorm before, so I decided to try it out because of the good reviews for Palmer's Lodge Swiss Cottage. I had an important event in Hampstead over the weekend. The location is ideal: access to Camden and Hampstead Heath. They keep the shared showers clean--the daily smell of bleach and cleaning was reassuring. They have wall mounted hair dryers and offer a cheap breakfast buffet. The resto doesn't serve food during the weekend but nearby Finchley Road has several fastfood options. If you have your own padlock, bring it with you because the lockers they offer under your bed do not have padlocks. Reception sells them at 2 gbp otherwise. There is a groundfloor mess hall where people can socialise or read books or use their laptops and a basement bar. It is very much a backpacker's dorm, so if you sleep lightly or have claustrophobic tendencies, avoid room 302 in the attic. The wooden beams can become an issue for tall people and the bunkbeds have curtains for privacy. Perhaps opt for a room with fewer capacity because your stay can only improve or suffer based on your roommates. I stayed in the women's rooms and it was difficult to find my bed. I appreciate the curtains that surrounded the bed to give me some semblance of privacy. It was made and clean. Our beds weren't made when we arrived (they forgot) and the previous 'inhabitants' left a lot of stuff that the cleaners didn't take away. The room had only one small window and was therefore a bit smelly, and the matresses were rather thin. In addition we had some bad experiences with one roommate who was very shady and kept us awake the last night.



However all bad things aside the bathrooms were nice and clean, the building is amazing, the bar/restaurant was cool and the breakfast was really good! So all in all, especially given the price it was a positive experience, we just had some bad luck with a few things I guess. More read less

I spent a week here with 3 of my friends over New Years Eve, and it was the greatest week ever! The staff was so friendly and made us feel right at home. Close to Camden Town and right next to multiple tube stations. Lots of food options within walking distance of the hostel, and it is in a very nice and safe neighborhood. Would recommend to any young person staying in London for some time. You'll have so much fun! Wish I never had to leave. read less
