Staff Recommends: British Summer Time

By Kévin Testy (Reception).

Summer is coming and music festivals are coming with it! London remains one of the places to be for music lovers and loads of events are taking place each year in the capital.

One of the biggest is the British Summer Time in Hyde Park. This semi Funfair-Music Festival is taking place in Central London for 2 weeks. And what a line-up: The New-Yorker worldwide star The Strokes, Blur, the mythic The Who, Taylor Swift …!! Really good bands are supporting them, we noticed for example the original synth-pop Future Islands, the psychedelic rock Temples, Metronomy and Kaiser Chiefs!

Not sure about staying the week end? No worries, you still have a chance to enjoy the festival.

During the week, the park is open for the public. Enjoy a fresh drink on one of the plenty of places to sit down and relax including pub-style garden tables and benches. I would go for the funfair rides, but there are also attractions and games which operate on a pay-as-you go basis.

How to get there?

Tube: Take the Jubilee Line from Willesden Green, change at Bond Street for the Central Line and get off at Marble Arch. The park is in front of you, behind the arch. You’ll need 5-10 minutes to walk through the park until you find the festival.

Bus: Cross the road in front of the hostel and take the 98 straight to Marble Arch Station. This bus is running 24 hours and becomes N98 during the night. The bus top is called Sidmouth Road.
