My Favourite Indian by Alyse Wood

Tayyabs in Whitechapel is incredible!!!! It’s been around since the 70’s cooking traditional Punjabi cuisine, though over the last few years it has become one of the worst kept secrets in London. The best dish you will ever eat in London is Tayyabs famous Ginger Grilled Lamb Chops. Seriously they are the best chops you will have anywhere. Ever.

Located not far from the south end of famous east London haunt Brick lane, Tayyabs is a very busy restaurant where queues have been known to go out the door and around the block. Don’t go here expecting a nice quiet meal, go here expecting some of the most delicious and most value for money food you will ever eat. I recently ate here, had a large starter (of chops), specialty main (Curried Quail), naan and rice, and my total bill came to £12.70. That’s it.

Although they have recently opened a second floor upstairs to help with the queues, if you go around dinner time without a booking be prepared to wait at least an hour. And just to make the wait that little bit more antagonising the queue eventually winds through the tables on the ground floor so you can salivate over the meals other lucky people are already eating! But don’t let it put you off, after one trip to Tayyabs you will go back again. And again… And again…
